Utd line up £35m bid for RiberyMANCHESTER UNITED are set to launch a £35million bid for Franck Ribery.

I’m sorry but I cannot buy this report…and I’m sure that Bayern Munich will not buy it neither!

Why?  For totally different reasons!

Bayern has reportedly slapped an £80 valuation on him only yesterday, United are now offering £35m  so something like £45-£50m is most likely to be the comprimise.

Personally, I cannot see how in a sane transfer matket Ribery is worth any more than £15m-£20m. Why should Sir Alex be stupid enough to pay the crazy asking price.

Bayern on the other hand has seen what Real Madrid paid for Ronaldo and Kaka so £50m and above must seem reasonable to them!

Where does that leave Ribery? If common sense prevails, he will remain at Munich until some sanity returns to football!

But the Premier League champions will wait two weeks before weighing in so that a clause in Ribery’s Bayern Munich contract is active.

The French winger is due a loyalty bonus on August 14, after which he is expected to request a transfer.

Bayern have fended off interest from Real Madrid whose arrogance and lack of respect infuriated the German giants.

But Ribery has indicated he would be willing to move to Old Trafford and wants to quit Germany.

United believe Ribery, 26, is prepared to force the issue but would not do so until any financial issues have been sorted.

Bayern are understood to be more willing to negotiate with United but are likely to demand nearer £50m.

United boss Alex Ferguson sees Ribery as Cristiano Ronaldo’s replacement.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti also revealed his admiration for the Frenchman.
