Will KB7 become the new CR7?

21 06 2009

Can CR7 be replaced by KB7? That is the question on the lips of every Manchester United fan.

karimSir Alex is making a determined effort to sign 21 year old Karim Benzema from Lyon as a replacement for Ronaldo. Before the first question can be answered however there is an even bigger one. Can Ferguson weave his magic once again to get KB’s  signature?

Lyon has made it clear that they are loathe to let their young  star player go but who can argue that in this day and age money talks, and it talks with a loud voice?

Ferguson has been at this place many times before, he knows full well what he wants and what he wants he usually gets.  His ultimate goal for United has got to be to combine Benazama with Ribery, if that can be achieved the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo may prove to be another masterstroke by the old fox.

New Kar for Reds

James Robson – Manchester Evening News June 20, 2009

SIR Alex Ferguson has been given all the encouragement he needs to make a £30m swoop for Karim Benzema.

The United manager has tracked the Lyon striker for more than two years and has been heartened by positive noises coming out of France that he could be available at the right fee.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has always maintained Benzema is not for sale at any price – but is now ready to consider a deal.

Fergie believes the French international – described as the new Zinedine Zidane – has the star quality to replace CR7.

And armed with £80m, Lyon’s £30m valuation is well within United’s price range. What’s more, at 21, he is considered by Old Trafford’s hierarchy to be at an ideal age.

Fergie will have more than £100m to spend this summer – and in the face of such financial muscle, Lyon accept they may have to soften their stance on Benzema.

Should United be successful in their pursuit of Benzema, it could have a telling impact on the Carlos Tevez situation.

Despite United being prepared to meet the £25.5m fee to make his deal a permanent one – the Argentine is stalling over a decision and Sir Alex is running out of patience.
